Located in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, Andrews Ranch Vineyard enjoys an almost perfect combination of elements for growing extremely well balanced fruit, combining soft tannins with great acidity. The cooling effect of winds from the Columbia River concentrates fruit flavors, while the vineyard’s south facing slopes provide optimum growing conditions. The arid conditions and combination of cool winters and warm summers with extended sunlight hours lend a perfect climate for growing absolutely superb grapes. The rich soils are silt loam with a deep layer of broken basalt, which helps to control water by absorbing excess moisture. There is granite rock throughout this 30-year-old vineyard, thanks to the Missoula glacial floods, which washed in rock from Montana during the last ice age. We are very fortunate indeed to work with Rob Andrews and his wonderful family, who all work so hard to cultivate the highest quality fruit from this unbelievable vineyard.
